WILL BELGIUM INTRODUCE A CAPITAL GAINS TAX? |
It is widely expected that Belgium will introduce a tax on capital gains from investments realised after 1/1/2018. If you have significant unrealised gains on certain investments in your portfolio you should seek professional advice on the possibility of selling them before the end of the year and repurchasing in 2018 in order to establish a higher cost base for the calculation of future gains.

BRITISH INFLATION RISES |
British inflation rose to its highest level in nearly 6 years in November. The consumer price index rose by 3.1% reflecting the impact of the fall in the pound as a result of the BREXIT vote. This is above the Bank of England’s 2% target and makes a further rise in interest rates very likely. The most alarming consequence is likely to be the effect on highly leveraged UK property market in which mortgages are more sensitive to changes in interest rates than in most European countries.
